From time to time some of us find we need a little help getting inspired; a little push in the right direction.
While inspiration comes in many forms, this is dedicated to those people that inspire us. And in support of someone who’s inspired me, a cookbook giveaway!
We all find inspiration through others, whether they be public figures, spiritual mentors, historical idols, family members, close friends, or even fictional characters. When it comes to getting inspired nothing dictates how it is done or whom (or what) it is through. For some of us, we haven’t met that awe inspiring person, yet follow them closely. For others, we live amongst them, basking in their awesomeness. At times those helping us out don’t even know it, yet they still inspire us with their story.
As of late, I’ve found inspiration through Joy Wilson, perhaps more commonly known as Joy the Baker. Joy’s popular baking blog is one that I’ve been following closely for some time now, unbeknownst to her (so it goes with blogs). I find myself quite taken by her unabashed style in which she lays it all out there for her readers to see, no holds barred.
Together, her quirky charm, lovely recipes, and a recent interview I stumbled upon with Joy the Baker and The Everygirl have me completely inspired, in the kitchen and in life! So, thank you Joy for being the unknowing friend and inspiration that you are.
In support of Joy – a giveaway, of ‘Joy the Baker Cookbook’!

I'm a local Vancouverite in search of good food, cataloging my experiences along the way, for better or worse.
I hope you'll join me as I open my heart, and stomach, to explore new foods and flavours, both in the kitchen and out.

You inspire me to restart my blog! Just by being fabulous! Now pick me for the cookbook!
Thanks, Sari! Let me know where you’re blogging from. And we’ll see about that cookbook :)
Your site is great and very inspiring Laura!!. I also have different people that inspire me but one that I really enjoy is Dalai Lama for his words of wisdom.
Thanks, Helene!
You inspire me! Ha!
I just added this website to my rss reader, great stuff. Cant get enough!
Following on Twitter!!
Sorry, I mean Pinterest.

I’m inspired by the women in my family, including those no longer with us. They’re dedicated mothers, wives, sisters, grandmothers, and aunts. They run their homes, their kitchens, maintain careers, and bring the family together for the holidays.
Ah, the multi-faceted woman – they are extremely remarkable people!
I’m inspired by my Mom, who has always kept a garden full of organic veggies and fruits. Nothing beats fresh raspberries off the bush or peas right out of their pods. Right now, in my city apartment, I can only dream of having a garden like hers, but one day I hope to see my own kids chomping on carrots they just ripped out of the ground.
It’s so true, having a backyard garden full of fresh food just waiting to be plucked and eaten is a gift.
just followed on twitter!
i gather food inspiration from blogs like this one, as well as my fellow bento bloggers, who form such a supportive community of creative sharing!
i gather daily fitness inspiration from my “tone it up” sisters online (especially on twitter) – they share their workouts and healthy meal ideas and challenge me to better myself!
i’d love to win this book, have been following joy’s blog for a long time and her food always looks SO delicious!
Bakers inspire me!
I’m inspired by my faith and the wealth of opportunities available on my college campus.
I find inspiration from so many different people. Joy inspires me do much, I love her blog. And I also find inspiration from Annie of Annie’s Eats as well.
I find inspiration every time I go to my local farmer’s market! I love walking around, seeing all the stands full of fresh fruits and veggies. I never know what I’m going to find, and I’m always imagining creative ways to use up the fresh basil, kale, apples, or whatever is there that day. I seriously wish they had the market everyday!
I would say my Italian grandmother started my love for food. Helping her in the kitchen every Sunday helped my bond with food and it has carried on through out the years.
I like to look at pictures of food on tastespotting to get inspired. Cooks Illustrated is another source I use because they teach the science behind cooking.
Finding inspiration from Annie (of Annie’s Eats blog). She’s a mother of two, completing her residency and still finds time to run a fabulous blog and cook beautiful meals for her family. I look to her site when I’m feeling overwhelmed with the work-life balance.
Annie’s Eats looks like a good source of inspiration, Melanie! What a good find.

Good luck with sewing! I recently took up knitting, and absolutely love it. There’s something really great about being able to make things from scratch.

In the kitchen, I’m inspired by Jamie Oliver’s passion and charm. In life, inspiration comes from everywhere, but particularly family and friends. P.S. Absolutely love Joy The Baker!
Jamie’s love of food is infectious, it’s hard not to love him!

Joy inspires me, too! I’m addicted to her blog. I’m also inspired by my mom. She’s always there for me, isn’t afraid to try new things, always sees the good in people, and is one of the funniest people I’ve ever met! She inspires me daily.
Sounds like you’ve got a pretty great Mom, Amber!

Thanks for sharing Ashley! Grandmothers do seem to have a special way of making the best food.
